Free = $350+

So I’m sure reading my last post prompted many questions. Questions like: “Huh?” “Who?” “When?”

Well, I’ll attempt to answer some of them. This past weekend Luda and Taryn went to their friend Megan’s farm. There were plenty of furry animals on the farm, including some farm fresh kittens. Well, if you know Taryn you know she fell in love with everything covered in fur. (Speaking of which, Luda must have a nice patch somewhere that I don’t know about, and I’d like to keep it that way.)

Well, Megan’s family couldn’t part with most of the animals and fortunately for them Taryn couldn’t take most of them with her anyway. They did have a surplus of kittens, however, so while I was driving back to Dayton yesterday I got a call from her asking if I wanted a kitten. She couldn’t keep one because it would kick Beaumont’s ass once it grew up (or at least that’s how I interpreted it) but she remembered me saying I would like having a cat. I know, I’m as amazed as anyone that someone actually listened to me, but this would also mean she could visit it fairly often so this wasn’t a totally selfless action. :-P

Well, a more rational me would have said no. It’s a particularly expensive burden when you’re renting an apartment. But I was feeling spontaneous as fate would have it and I went for it. I somewhat regret being so spontaneous, but that feeling goes away when he sits on my shoulder and licks my ear. Yeah, I’m a softy. But I’m still a bit miffed at this $350 “optimum wellness plan” I got pushed on me at the vet today. It covers all Baxter’s shots/deworming/neutering/etc. that he’ll need for the year, but still. He’s a flipping cat! I could go on and on, but I’ll just put forth the fact that I could get all of this done in Ottawa for half as much, if that.

Burned. Or Rather, Ribboned

Remember how I made fun of people’s ribbons? Well Tone got me back for it. I’ll wear it with pride for the weekend. Then it’s making the rounds so Jim, Tone, and others can show their support for Anne. :-P

Had this linked in my away message for awhile, but decided I wanted to preserve it on my blog:

McBullShit

So McDonald’s PSP promotion commercials left me with a big mac craving so after we discovered that Flying Pizza was closed for the week, we went with McD’s as plan B. I get back, open up my bag and sigh in disappointment at the half filled fry container. “That’s a two week boycott…” I muttered to myself. Then I go to check if I won anything. Hmm, no sticker to peel off. Then I see two words that made me mad enough to post something: “MAC code”. Yes, code. There’s a string of letters and digits I have to physically type in to see if I won. That’s work. It’s definitely not instant. What If I wanted to eat my food somewhere other than at a computer like normal people do? Tear off part of the container and carry it with me? Or carry the empty container which should now be refuse with me until I get to a computer? Very inconvenient considering how the code is likely useless. But let’s say you can actually enter in the code without being hypnotised by their crafty use of flash. Oops, they want an email. And a birthdate. *sigh* fine. Ok, I understand the need for something to keep the bots at bay, so the following form requesting name/phone/zip is even more annoying, but still serves a plausible purpose. Until you realize that you still have to turn in the piece of cardboard waste to claim a prize anyway. So yeah, McDonald’s is on boycott.

Happy Fireworks!

Happy 4th of July everyone. It’s good to be back in my comfy bed again. Very good in fact so I’m gonna enjoy it some more now. You can make a cardboard cutout of me to compensate.

Camping?!

Tag: GeneralJohn @ 3:11 pm

So Jim, Luda, the spider zombie, and I are heading out to some woods in the bellybutton of Ohio with only a few tents, some sleeping bags, and $100+ of food for grilled substanance. Yeah, I know. Weird, huh? Still not fully believing it myself. We’ll be on the road in an hour though so no posts over the weekend as usual.

Probably none when I get back either because zombies are poor writers and there’s no way I’ll be able to stay safe from becoming a zombie myself since I’m so flipping slow.
