Ok, the api for a piece of software at work specifies a class that stores an x/y pair of coordinates. This is often used for storing latitude and longitude. Seems like a common thing to have and something that should be pretty easy to use, right? Well it’s not. The moron who created the class decided that latitude should be x and longitude should be y. Does this bother anyone else but me? Why couldn’t anyone on the developer’s team see that this is a bad idea when they came up with it? X = horizontal. Y = vertical. This has been pounded into my head since I was in grade school, and it’s been driving me crazy everytime I’ve had to deal with this FUBAR version of a coordinate system in writing my code.
So I stopped drooling Tuesday and bought a 52″ LG DLP projection tv. I’d post a picture of it but my camera is MIA. Anyway, I was all pumped to start enjoying it when it would finally be delivered today. I even left work early and decided to work some on Saturday because I couldn’t wait. So I get in the door and lay eyes on the heaviest, most expensive paperweight I’ve ever seen. It worked when the guy delivered it apparently, but in less than an hour after the guy left the lamp went out. >_<Mother fuggin’ bastards!! Goddamn piece of shit breaks as soon as they get it here! Bullshit!
So now I gotta wait until they send a guy out on Monday to fix it. Rediculous. I wonder if they did this on purpose because that $400 protection plan sounds pretty good right now. :/
update (8/28 2:20 PM): Found the camera hanging on my door. D’oh! Now imagine this, but with a movie playing.
For the love of god. Are people really bothered that much by a little water, salt, and some bacteria? Develop a god-damned immune system and get over your fear of cooties! The toilet seat covers, people not wanting to touch doorknobs, etc. They aren’t even afraid enough that it’s a phobia, people are just obsessively clean. Get a little dirt on ya! It’s good for you!
Went to best buy today to compare prices on speaker stands and made the mistake of walking through the tv section. Open box 50-plus inch DLP and D-ILA sets for under $2000. Man, it’s so tempting. I have the feeling they’ll go fast and the sets will all go up in price closer to christmas. I’m going to have a hard time thinking about anything else at work tomorrow.
No actual topics have come to mind lately and I’ve been busy with lots of stuff so this place has been kinda bare. Eh, it’s August. It’s a slow time of year. Found this the other day. Someone’s been using that to mess with Tone at work all these years.
It was an interesting weekend dragging baxter on a 200 mile round trip. Maybe I’ll blog about that tomorrow. No promises.
Ha! And when it’s time to move, you can use the furniture to pack other stuff!
