I swear, Mateti tests are in a league of their own when it comes to difficulty.

My Ears Are Burning

Tag: Stuff That Grinds My GearsJohn @ 1:50 am

Today I will break down another craptacular spam. This fine specimen is a crafty one, preying on stupid, paranoid people to fall for the scam.
The stupid spam follows with my comments in brackets.
******Not commercial email******

Someone who knows you [obviously, because only people who know me personally know my email address! I mean, people don't just gather email addresses and send mass emails to strangers! That would be uncivilized!]
has just begun the process of sharing experiences and opinions about you via our website.
[Oh no!! People are talking about my email address anonymously online!! OMGWTFBBQ!!!1!one]

This email message is not spam. [I wish all my legitimate emails told me this. It helps. Helps identify the spam.] This email message was sent to you as a direct result of the actions of a user [loser/email harvesting robot] at our
website. If this email message was delivered to your spam or bulk email folder please notify your ISP or spam filtering
company regarding this mistake on their part [*whips spam filter* bad spam filter! bad! letting this email through is being a bad spam filter! looks like I have to train you again!]

To view postings about you [I think they mean my email?] use this link [don't links usually have anchor tags and stuff to create their clicky nature?]:

Sincerely,

SYEC Support [not a spammer]

/end spam

Ahh, the joys of the intarweb. Anyway, this spam is part of a scam. But, it’s not anything new. It’s a spinoff of an older spam/scam. It’s nice to see they have a registration system complete with a turing test that people have to go through to request information. I mean, otherwise they might have their system flooded with bots! And I’m sure people will pay money to provide other paying customers with the information they requested about so and so’s email address.

Master of My New Domain

Tag: GeneralJohn @ 1:39 pm

Everything’s moved over to the new site now. Ahh, feels good to have a professional website, complete with my own personal domain name. Everything else looks the same, however, so I’ll have to get working on making a new look for the place. Fortunately, I have my old blog still set up on my own computer to use as my own personal playground as I do design stuff and test things out. So I won’t break this site (like I did last year at this time) as I fiddle with settings, html templates, and style sheets. I will be turning off port forwarding on my router, however, so update your bookmarks and links!

Where’s the link?

Tag: Stuff That Grinds My GearsJohn @ 5:46 pm

The strong bad emails haven’t been getting linked very promptly lately. It’s really starting to cheese me off. >_< Finding out that there is a new email from Fark.com when I had checked the scroll buttons just two seconds earlier, that’s not cool.

Gentlemen, Update Your Bookmarks

Tag: GeneralJohn @ 4:47 pm

I have just signed up for a brand spankin’ new webhosting account at fuitadnet.com. No more of this crappy service by t3h craptari 2000 PC over a shitty DSL line that gets disconnected every day. I still swear that fan’s going to go out when I’m not around and my processor’s going to melt. Putting the processor right beneath a power supply when both are burning with the heat of a thousand suns. It doesn’t take Einstein to figure out that’s not a good idea.
Um, so I strayed a bit off topic there. Getting back to the point of this post, the new address for this site will be www.shutupbrain.net whenever my order gets processed and stuff. I also have to move everything over. I’ve taken the first step, however, so good for me!!

OMGWTFBBQ!

Tag: Amusing LinksJohn @ 2:27 am

*sigh* Tone got his hands on adobe pagemaker again. While I do condone, nay endorse making a mockery out of WSU’s elections, I would like to see a more professional job as it gives satire more of t3h funny. None of this frame crap, a less imposing banner that looks like it was created using professional software like Photoshop/Gimp instead of MS Paint, a decent background, etc. In short, there’s a reason “Taught Tone to write web pages” isn’t listed under Luda’s highlights.

It was t3h funny, though so props there.
“Taught Hackitt to read.” Classic.
