My apologies for the blog downtime lately. It’s not my fault, but I’ll be calling sometime during the week to hopefully get it taken care of. I might as well take advantage of the phone support I’m paying an extra $2.50 a month for now.

Not much else to blog about so here are some things that ground my gears this week.

Ok, first thing. Went to Meijer after work on Tuesday because I knew there was something important I needed to get. I couldn’t remember what it was once I was there. That’s par for the course with me though. No big deal. While I was there I figured I’d pick up some diet dew since we’re always out of it right away and it’s on sale. Got some milk and shit too. I go to the checkout and guess what? The dew’s on a pseudo sale. You gotta spend $10 on other stuff to get the discount. This is the second time Meijer’s pulled shit like this on me. I can always find $10 of groceries I need along with the dew. That doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is there’s no clear indicator that I needed to buy more shit to get the deal. The sale sign looked exactly like it does when there isn’t additional bullshit to go through. So after I look like an idiot asking why it didn’t ring up with the sale price I gotta have it taken off my orderr, leave without it and come back the next day when I remember what else I needed to get.

Second, you may have noticed some downtime on the SUB blogs in the past couple weeks. This was due to the databases at fuitadnet going tits up several different times. I’ve had more problems with downtime in the past 4 months than I’ve had in the rest of my year and a half with fuitadnet. Yesterday the site was down again, and, well here’s my conversation with Tone about it:

(11:27 AM) John: you check the sub site today?
(11:28 AM) John: shit’s broke again
(11:29 AM) John: so I decided to go to the fuitadnet forums to see what’s going on lately
(11:29 AM) John: and I see this thread about a price increase
(11:30 AM) Tone: what?!
(11:30 AM) John: ain’t that a kick in the mollafuckin’ balls
(11:30 AM) Tone: but it says that they’re doing db work
(11:30 AM) Tone: no, you’re in a contract
(11:30 AM) Tone: they cannot charge you more until your time is expired
(11:31 AM) John: month to month thing for me
(11:31 AM) Tone: oh…
(11:31 AM) Tone: well shit
(11:31 AM) John: I can submit a thing to keep it at the old price
(11:31 AM) Tone: why haven’t you been charging me?
(11:31 AM) Tone: I’ll help out
(11:31 AM) John: I appreciate it but it’s only $5 a month
(11:31 AM) Tone: oh
(11:31 AM) John: that I pay for my own shit anyway
(11:31 AM) Tone: the increase is?
(11:32 AM) John: another $2.50 per month
(11:32 AM) Tone: oh damn
(11:32 AM) Tone: talk about screwing you over
(11:32 AM) Tone: not a bad idea though, because another $5 per user is an extra 40k per year for them
(11:32 AM) John: yeah, the ceo is all like “don’t think of it as another %50″
(11:33 AM) John: “everyone is paying an additional $2.50 or so”
(11:33 AM) John: or something like that
(11:33 AM) John: bastards
(11:33 AM) Tone: jerks!
(11:33 AM) John: the thing that really gets me though is that I’ve had more problems in the past month or so than in the past year before that

(11:34 AM) John: and they want more money
(11:34 AM) John: wtf
(11:34 AM) Tone: assholes
(11:34 AM) John: he starts off the thread with some bs about taking steps to improve uptime and shit
(11:34 AM) John: well those steps have hurt uptime for me
(11:35 AM) John: and that, people, is what grinds my gears
(11:35 AM) Tone: ha
(11:35 AM) Tone: just watched that again last night
(11:35 AM) John: oooo, he said it!
(11:36 AM) John: so you still running tonight? because you’re welcome to hang out with us if you’d like company. maybe after running?
(11:37 AM) Tone: running isn’t until 8, probably working till 7.

I ran with Tone and Josh tonight… put in about 5 miles. I am going to sleep goooood tonight. And then feel like shit in the morning. Check out my flickr gallery I have linked on the sidebar there now and leave some comments in it!
